Imogin Appiah RIP
Written by Administrator

In the summer of 2009 I photographed Imogin Appiah, a young girl who was appealing for bone marrow donor's to help in her fight against Leukaemia. With her shaven head, big smile and cheeky attitude she made an instant impression on me. As we moved from one area of North End to another she instinctively took my hand as we walked and talked. As we walked for a few minutes she then spent her time writing her autograph several times on the reporters notebook that she had offered to carry for him. She was one of those people and it was one of those shoots that you know you will always think back to.

Sadly Imogin died last weekend at the age of just 7. Hopefully her family will be strengthened by the memories of their strong, funny and feisty child.

Here are a few of the images of I took that day:

A Long Walk in a Winter Wonderland
Wednesday, 04 February 2009 17:23

It was the great snow day and I had been out locally taking pictures of pretty snow scenes, you know, snow covered railway lines, crumpled cars and kids sledging on the local green. Then late in the afternoon I got a call from The Sun newspaper looking for some pictures of a house fire in Cousldon. I had already seen some pictures online and hoped that I could get those passed on to The Sun but for whatever reason that wasn't going to happen. Being on a road that was snowed in I decided to pack the minimum amount of equipment and walk the three or four miles to the scene. The reason for The Sun's interest was that the Firefighters struggled to make it up the steep hill to the fire because of the deep snow. That meant the last part of the walk was up a steep hill! Lovely!
